To save money on your wedding, know who you are and what you want for your wedding. The most important factor is size. Obviously a small wedding is going to cost less, but if your dream is to have a large one, realize there are ways to save with a larger wedding.

When considering the size of your wedding think about this:

  • Are you an introvert or an extrovert?
  • Do you like to socialize in large groups?
  • Do you prefer small, intimate gatherings with your closest friends?
  • Do you thrive in hectic, noisy settings?
  • Do you get claustrophobic if there are too many people around?

Obviously, if you love large gatherings and no group is too large, you’ll probably want a larger wedding. Remember these types of weddings will have a much more active energy and it may feel hectic. Expect that the larger numbers of people might cost more BUT you can conserve money by serving appetizers instead of a meal or just having cake to eat if the wedding is in the later evening.

If you tend to like smaller groups and dislike crowds, plan for a smaller wedding.

Know yourself. Don’t let someone talk you into any sort of wedding if it doesn’t suit you.
