Potluck and wedding just doesn’t seem to be that great. After all who wants a potluck?  However, if you are having your wedding in your home town and most guests don’t have far to travel this can work.

Consider a sort of retro theme to the wedding if you want it to be a bit more fashionable.   Then let the mothers know that you are having a potluck. No doubt they and their friends and friends from church groups will volunteer to have food for the potluck.   Have someone coordinate dishes so that each person is assigned a particular dish (appetizer, main dish, side dish, dessert) and figure out if you have any theme for the wedding.

A potluck saves you the big money on catering.   It can create a homey, cozy wedding atmosphere.
